Hamilton, NJ: Hamilton Fire departments rescued a stranded deer from a frozen lake Sunday afternoon at Mercer County Park.

The fire department’s marine unit responded to Mercer County Dam Site 21 on Hughes Drive around 1:30 after getting reports of a deer stranded on a frozen lake. The marine unit quickly established a plan to capture the deer and bring it back to land safely.

A boat was utilized in order to get to the deer, while rescuers on board used tools to break the ice in order to form a path. Once the rescuers were able to get a hold on the deer, they were able to lift it onto the boat and transport it back to land safely.

The deer was taken to the Mercer County Wildlife Center in Hopewell by Hamilton Township Animal Control.
