East Windsor Police and fire companies responded to D41 Abbington Drive for a report of a structure fire. The resident saw fire in the ceiling of the bathroom of the apartment. The resident called police and were instructed to evacuate the residence . Upon arrived of Patrol officers, flames were seen in the apartment of D41 and the bathroom directly above it,D42. The entire building , which includes eight apartments (D41-D48), was evacuated . Firefighters from East Windsor and several surrounding towns responded to extinguish the fire. Apartments (D41 and D42) sustained heavy fire and water damage . Apartment D43 and D44 sustained smoke damage. The rest of the complex remains undamaged. The fire was determined to have originated in the ceiling/ floor between both apartments and considered non-suspicious at this time.The incident remains under investigation by the East Windsor township police department , The Mercer County prosecutors office,and the Mercer County fire marshal. No injuries occurred as a result of the fire.
