Ewing Man arrested for killing Trenton teenager

TRENTON NJ: Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported today that the suspect taken into custody by police a short time after the homicide of Tayvion Jones has been charged with murder.
Horace Jones, 34, of Ewing, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. The prosecutor’s office has filed a detention motion, which is scheduled for Friday. He is being held in the Mercer County Correction Center.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating a homicide that occurred in Trenton early Monday morning. Trenton police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation for a shooting in the first block of Oakland Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the kitchen of his residence with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Tayvion Jones, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
