Walkway at “Trenton Makes” Bridge to Close Monday & Tuesday for Plank Replacement Work

TRENTON NJ: The walkway at the Lower Trenton (“Trenton Makes”) Toll-Supported Bridgewill be closed between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on both Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.

The closure is needed so Commission maintenance personnel can remove the walkway’s weathered wooden planks and replace them with new composite decking.  The 1,022-foot-long, 8-foot-wide walkway was last replaced six years ago.

Pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to use the walkway at the nearby Calhoun Street Toll-Supported Bridge (nine-tenths of a mile upstream) as their Delaware River crossing point during the two 5-1/2-hour-long closure periods. The walkway is expected to reopen after the completion of each work period. (Note: The Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge does not have pedestrian/bicycle access.)
