Guided by the advice and support of the Trenton chapter of the NAACP and leaders from the communities of faith, government, education and business, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora lifted the curfew today that was put in place on April 6.
Effective immediately, the temporary 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew is lifted. Residents and visitors can move about the city freely and lawfully and businesses within the city limits can resume their normal business hours, while continuing to implement any and all directions from city and state authorities regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus public-health emergency.
“I am pleased to lift the curfew and resume after-hours city life, including the commercial activity that we need to power our city’s economy,” said Mayor Gusciora. “I am grateful to Jonette Smart, President of the Trenton chapter of the NAACP, for her counsel on the curfew and other matters important to the well-being of our great city.”
While the overall curfew is lifted, the Mayor has imposed a June 11 to September 1 curfew—9:59 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.—for juveniles under the age of 18, who must be indoors overseen by a parent or legal guardian and off city streets and roadways by 10 p.m. Trenton PD units protecting the city have been advised to enforce this rule.

The NAACP’s Smart, who met with the Mayor on Thursday, is confident that the city will maintain a peaceful climate and that police will continue their mission to respectfully protect and serve the people of Trenton.
