Trenton, N.J. – Mayor W. Reed Gusciora today announced the launch of the Trenton Urgent Rehabilitation Program (TURP), which provides up to $5,000 to qualifying homeowners in need of an urgent or accessibility-related repair and $1,000 for lead service line replacement.

Financial assistance will be provided to homeowners in the form of a grant, with no lien filed on the property. Funds must be used on repairs that pose an immediate risk to homeowner’s health and safety or provide accessibility improvements to elderly or disabled homeowners.

“My administration is working to restore Trenton neighborhoods block by block, home by home,” said Mayor Gusciora. “Part of that effort includes taking advantage of federal programs that help our residents finance emergency repairs so they can continue to live in this community safely. We encourage any Trentonian in need of these services to review their eligibility and apply right away.”

Eligible repairs include heaters, water heaters, plumbing, electrical, sewer, and severely leaking roofs. Accessibility improvements include wheelchair ramps, grab bars in showers, and accessible toilets.

In addition, participants in the Trenton Water Works (TWW) Lead Service Line Replacement Program may be eligible for grants up to $1,000 to cover the owner’s portion of the replacement costs. Applicants can apply for the lead service line grant independently or in conjunction with an urgent repair at their home using the same application process below.

This initiative is backed by $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

To qualify for funding, applicants must meet requirements set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Potential applicants must also have a licensed professional evaluate their rehabilitation needs. To review eligibility requirements and apply online, visit https://www.trentonnj.org/TURP.
