On Tuesday of this week, Administrators and Teachers from TCHS all joined together to help close out Women’s History Month in a special way for students.

Each year, the school has the Annual Women’s Tea to celebrate women and girls both in and out of the District. Traditionally, this event has been hosted by Dorita Gray, Cosmetology Teacher but this year, Biology Teacher Nicole Hamlet joined in to assist along with a few others. This year’s theme was “Girls in Pearls” and the ladies all dressed up in pink, yellow and white with their pearls.

Thanks to Aramark, 50 young ladies received a specially prepared box lunch filled with a Roasted Turkey BLT with an avocado spread and spring mix; tri color pasta with Italian seasoning, baked potato chips, and mini cheese cake rolls. To wash it all down, they each received a beautifully decorated bottle of infused water containing lemon, ginger and fresh mint leaves.

The group of women met at the High School and personally distributed the boxed lunches to the girls throughout the city to prepare them for their special virtual presentation that would feature guest speaker, The Honorable Judge Demetrica Todd-Ruiz.

Each delivery was met with a big smile and a hearty “Thank you.” It was an exciting time considering students have not been back to school since last March.

Interim Principal Deirdre Brown posted on Facebook, “Our teachers and administrators go above and beyond for our students. Thank you to Interim Principal, Mary Courtney, VP Tinty Bose; our teachers, Ms. Gray, Mrs. Hamlet – Event Chairwomen as well as, Monica Morris, Crystal Feliciano and Donna Cribbs for making this day such a successful one! You are all POWERFUL WOMEN! Thank you for shining your light on our students!!”

On behalf of Peterson’s Breaking News, job well done ladies, thank you all for caring for the students and going the extra mile!
