It’s official, today, Trenton City Clerk Brandon Garcia certified runoff election results for the North and South wards. Jennifer Williams and Jenna Figueroa Kettenburg will be sworn in as members of the Trenton City Council on Sunday along with East Ward Councilman Joseph Harrison and West Ward Councilwoman-elect Teska Frisby, who won their elections on November 8th after receiving more than 50% + 1 of the vote.

The council will be able to move forward with a quorum allowing them to reorganize with four members being sworn in. The runoff for three at-large council seats is scheduled for January 24th and it will take at least two weeks to certify the winners of that election.

Initially after the November 8th election, the city clerk certified Yazminelly Gonzalez, Crystal Feliciano and Jasi Edwards as the at-large winners. The three other candidates filed a law suit contesting the decision made by the city clerk regarding the formula used to calculate the winners and a Superior Court Judge found that the initial calculations used to determine the winners were incorrect and a runoff election needed to be scheduled.

Edwards, Gonzalez and Feliciano have teamed up this time around and will work together as they head toward the January 24th runoff date. They have received endorsements from Mayor Gusciora, Community Leader Elvin Montero and AFSCME Local 2286. The three are encouraging everyone to consider voting by mail for this election.
