TRENTON,  N.J. (PBN) – On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Vivian M. Harrell, a 37-year-old resident of Trenton, was arrested by the Trenton Police Department on charges of second-degree Aggravated Assault and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest came after a disturbing video circulated on social media, depicting Harrell covering an infant’s face and using vulgar, derogatory language while pushing the infant’s head.

Multiple concerned individuals alerted the Trenton Police Department about the video, which showed an individual possibly obstructing the infant’s airway and engaging in abusive behavior towards the 8-week-old child. The Trenton Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, led by Detective Sh’Quanah Lopez, along with a detective from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, conducted a thorough investigation into the matter.

Upon identification of Harrell as the individual in the video, law enforcement swiftly acted to ensure the safety of the infant. Harrell’s arrest underscores the gravity of the situation, highlighting the legal consequences of endangering the welfare of a child and engaging in aggravated assault.

The Division of Child Protection and Permanency was contacted and is actively involved in the case, providing additional support and resources for the infant and the family.
