Hamilton, NJ ( PBN) – On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at approximately 11:13 a.m., the Hamilton Police Anti-Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the Winding Brook Apartments on Bradford Avenue. This culminated a month-and-a-half-long investigation into narcotics trafficking in the area.

During the search, officers discovered two handguns, ammunition, suspected heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia and $10,151.00 in U.S. currency. Two individuals present at the residence were arrested: April Angelo, 34, of Hamilton, and Jose Colon-Matos, 32, of Trenton.

Both suspects face a litany of charges including:

  • Two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
  • Two counts of Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose
  • Two counts of Possessing a Weapon while distributing CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substances)
  • Possession of Defaced Firearm
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine
  • Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute within 1000 Feet of a School
  • Possession of Heroin, Cocaine, and Crack Cocaine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Property ($10,151.00) Believed to be Derived from Criminal Activity

Additionally, Colon-Matos faces charges of Unlawful Possession of Handgun/NERA Act and Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm.
