Garcia Jerry

Trenton, NJ – Garcia Jerry, 23 of Trenton NJ is one of the many good Samaritans doing great things for people in the community this Holiday Season.  He grew up in Costa Rica where “not having a tree as a kid made me always want to have one for Christmas,” Jerry said.

Garcia is currently in the Army on active duty in West Point, NY.  In order to live his childhood desire of having a tree of his own, he left work at 5pm rushing home one day to find two families that were in need of a tree this Christmas.  He decided to post a picture of two trees he had purchased on Facebook stating that he wanted to help two families and before he knew it, the post went viral and many other families came forward needing help securing trees also.

Garcia credits the City of Trenton for “shaping me into the person I am today and that’s why I want to help my community,” Jerry said, having spent most of his childhood in the city.  “When I realized more people needed trees, I knew I had to find ways to get more!  Instead of 2 trees, I now have 12 to give back to those in need.”

COVID-19 has disrupted the lives of so many, that Garcia along with many other individuals and organizations have stepped up to help fill in the gaps.  “If this information gets shared to everyone, maybe it will inspire more people in Trenton to do things to help others also,” Jerry stated.

Since his initial post, Garcia has received so many requests for help that he started a Go Fund Me to assist him in purchasing the trees.  He has vowed to help as many people as he can to have a glimmer of hope during the Holiday Season and to know that even in the midst of a pandemic, there are good people that care.
