TRENTON, N.J. (PBN)  On January 25, 2024, a victim reported to Trenton Police that an unknown male, armed with a gun, approached him as he was walking with a friend in the area of Mulberry St. and Klagg Ave. The victim was robbed at gunpoint and suffered injuries after the suspect struck him several times with the gun. Trenton Police Department Robbery Unit Detective Jadeen Smith conducted an investigation that included locating video evidence, obtaining statements, identifying the suspect, and filing a warrant for the aforementioned charges. Rooks was arrested on February 5, 2024, by Patrol Bureau officers for this warrant. Robbery Unit Detectives Roberto Ramos and John Rose assisted in this investigation under the supervision of Acting Detective Sergeant Michael Nazario. Rooks was charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

On Thursday, December 07, 2023, at approximately 2037 hours, Trenton Police
Communications received a ShotSpotter activation of eleven (11) rounds in the area of 102 Oakland
Street. Additionally, a caller indicated a bullet entered through 117 Oakland Street (Kingdom Hall
Church) and grazed a male inside. Patrol units responded to the area and located victim, suffering from
a minor graze wound to the rear of his neck area. Patrol units also located a scene on the side of 9
Mellon Street. Shooting Response Team (SRT) was notified and responded. The victim was transported
by Trenton Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) to Capital Health Regional Medical Center (CHRMC)
to seek treatment and was listed in stable condition. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team
conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of a male juvenile for this incident. The juvenile was
charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

On February 7, 2024, the Trenton Police Department received multiple reports of broken windows on
buildings located at 50 E. State St., 32 E. Front St., and 22 Yard Ave. Officers responded to the three
locations and found a total of 32 windows broken. The total damage was estimated at approximately
$20,000. Criminal Investigation Bureau detective Joseph Schiaretti obtained video of the incident and
later received information on the suspect’s location. Detective Schiaretti directed officers to that
location. The suspect was identified, located by Officers Melquan Christie and Yajaira Torres, and
charged with Criminal Mischief.
