Trenton, NJ (June 14, 2024) — The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has issued a code orange air quality alert for Middlesex and Mercer Counties for Friday, June 14. This alert indicates that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Sensitive groups, including children, individuals suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung conditions, and the elderly, are advised to take precautions. The NJDEP recommends minimizing the effects of air pollution by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors during this period.

The code orange alert comes as part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and raise awareness about air quality issues. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary steps to reduce exposure to harmful pollutants.
