TRENTON, N.J. (PBN) Public officials swore in the new Firefighter Cadet class consisting of 38 candidates on Monday, February 26, 30 recruits from Trenton and 8 recruits from Ewing. This initial swearing was their oath as city employees/ Township employees, the oath of office will be given once they complete the academy making them certified firefighters for the state of NJ. The recruit class 24-1 is scheduled to graduate on Friday, June 28, 2024. Once completed, this class will be known as a historic one for both the city of Trenton and Ewing Township. This will be the first time Trenton has ever hosted a combined recruit academy with another department and the first time Ewing Township has hired candidates off the civil service list without any prior firefighter experience.
