TRENTON N.J. (PBN) The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are delving deeper into the tragic events of Wednesday night, which resulted in the deaths of two men in Trenton. Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri provided key updates regarding the ongoing investigation.

The incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on May 1, 2024, when Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter activation indicating multiple rounds fired in the area of Prospect Street and Pennington Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims in the side parking lot of 812 Prospect Street.

One victim, identified as Chevaughn Fagan, 28, of Trenton, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. The second victim, Jerome Francis, 43, of Hamilton, was located in a blue Infiniti QX60 with gunshot wounds to the chest. The vehicle showed signs of heavy front-end damage, and multiple airbags were deployed. Detectives recovered three handguns, two cell phones, and several shell casings at the scene.

Both Fagan and Francis were rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center but were pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
