TRENTON, N.J. (PBN) Trenton Police are investigating a shooting that took place at the Exxon on North Olden Ave and New York Avenue. The shooting occurred around 7 pm Saturday, a woman who was stuck at the crime scene stated it was an attempted robbery and the gunman fired two gunshots and allegedly Police had the gunman in custody. No one was injured in the attack.

UPDATE: On Saturday, January 27, 2024, at approximately 7:46 p.m., Trenton Police Officers Chris DeAngelo, Clyde Yeldell, Jami Fassnacht, and Michael Manning were on patrol in the area of New York Avenue and North Olden Avenue.  Officers Yeldell and DeAngelo heard a gunshot in the nearby vicinity.  The officers began to canvass the immediate area and observed a physical altercation in the parking lot of 801 North Olden Avenue, the Dunkin Donuts/Exxon.  As the officers approached, they observed the suspect, later identified as Christopher C. Lewis, forty-two years old, of Fillmore Avenue in Trenton, standing over the victim while in possession of a handgun.  Officers stated they observed Lewis assault the victim and point the weapon toward him.  When the officers got closer, Lewis became aware of their police presence and attempted to flee the area.  Lewis attempted to climb over the adjoining wooden fence to the next property but did not complete his quest.  Officer DeAngelo brought Lewis down to the ground where he was taken into custody without further incident.  Lewis was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun. One of the gas pumps was struck by gunfire. Officers spoke with the victim, who stated he was working the gas pumps when Lewis demanded money from him. During the robbery, Lewis fired one round.  The spent shell casing was located in the parking lot near the gas pumps.  The victim was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team was notified and took over the investigation. Lewis was charged with Armed Robbery and weapons offenses.
